2015 in Review at Accinov – (3) – Scientific coordination and events hosted at Accinov

As 2016 is now starting, this post will close my review of 2015. This past year was exciting with many new interactions and meetings and I would like today to emphasize on the events that we hosted or organised with our partners.

Scientific coordination

Bioprocess technical meeting in Lyon – July 2, 2015

One of our major event was held during the Summer as we organized in collaboration with Axelera, Axel’One and Lyonbiopole a one-day event dedicated to Bioprocessing. Along with the other members of the scientific committee, we prepared a rich program gathering reknown speakers and organizations such as Pierre MONSAN from TWB and people from Metabolic Explorer, IFPEN, Novasep,  Processium and Sanofi Pasteur. Academia was also represented with the presence of Annie MARC and Eric OLMOS from Université de Lorraine and LRGP laboratory as well as Manuel ROSA-CALATRAVA from VirPath laboratory.

The event covered the entire workflow of bioprocess development from strain optimisation (Metabolic Explorer) to upstream (LRGP) and downstream processing (Novasep, Processium). Recent breakthrough were highlighted with process modelization (IFPEN) and Process Analytical technology (PAT, Sanofi Pasteur, VirPath).

Technical workshops organized during the afternoon were the opportunity to share and to brainstorm with other participants representing both the chemical and the pharmaceutical industry of Rhone-Alpes Auvergne Region.

Lyonbiopole’s Collaborative Day

Every year, since 2012, this event organised by Lyonbiopole is the opportunity for Accinov to gather local players of bioprocessing. Keeping the edge of new bioprocess technology, this year topic focused on miniaturization of bioprocess tools for screening and process development. The attendees were both from large pharmaceutical groups and from small biotech companies. Equipment company and CMO attended as well the session.

Conclusions of the session highlighted the need for new competences (statistics, DoE, automation…) but also for new analytical platforms able to handle the increased throughput of samples and to use lower volumes.

Events in our facilities

We were pleased to host an event organized by Qiagen in September. The seminar dedicated to the workflows in molecular biology was the opportunity for the attendees to discover the broad range of solution available in Qiagen product portfolio to support automation and increase sample throughput. www.qiagen.com

GE Healthcare

In September another event from a leading player of bioprocess equipment has also been  organized. Indeed, GE Healthcare selected our laboratory to stop its Uptream Travelling Light Tour in Lyon. Mixers, bioreactors (XDR-10 and Wave 25) and TFF system AKTA Flux have been presented in real conditions. www.gelifesciences.com

Later in November, we were really happy to welcome Repligen for a one-day seminar at Accinov. The company presented its prepacked columns OPUS(r). They offer a unique flexibility with diameters ranging from few mm up to 60cm for R&D and industrial operations. The company also highlighted its ATF system. The hollowfibres-based device enables efficient perfusion cell culture. Indeed, the system allows yielding very high cell concentration in the range of 1-2×108cells/mL. www.repligen.com
